End of the First Week of Classes!!

Me looking super sleepy after traveling for two days!

A Roman bridge (this one is for you Laura)

Bell Tower at the top of our village.

School library - the old Boulangerie (bakery)

View of the valley - across the valley you can see Bonnieux the closest village. :)

It is Thursday and we have just completed our first week of classes here in Lacoste. For both my Art History and my Travel Drawing class we went on field trips to the city Gordes. It is one of the most breathtaking sites I have ever seen. The city is perched on the top of a hill overlooking a gorgeous valley, similar to the layout of Lacoste. Some of the architecture is even constructed into the rock landscape. It was amazing. Unfortunately, for the past few days it has been raining, but this evening the weather finally cleared up so it looks like we'll be having another magnificent sunset and hopefully sunny weather tomorrow.

In the morning tomorrow I'm traveling to Apt, a nearby village with open markets during the weekend. :) I plan on buying some antique french books at a store there in hopes that I will be able to use them for a project I'm working on.

Just so you know, I'm only taking two classes here in Lacoste. An art history class teaching us about the history of Provence (the region of France where were staying) and a travel portfolio class, which is a drawing class where we go on field trips and draw different architecture and landscapes. So far both are incredible. I'm going to try to upload some photos now while the internet is still working. WISH ME LUCK!!

au revoir
gretchen.
